We All Went to Bed…

Last night my friend and I taught the two on-line Hebrew classes that we are taking over while our teacher/friend goes through a difficult time in her life. We reviewed foundational information with the classes so we could make sure they understand it before we move on. Even though my friend and I both feel more comfortable one-on-one than in a group, I think the classes went pretty well.

Busy

This last week has been so busy. Wednesday I went with EJ to the chiropractor. Thursday I went with him to the doctor. She is addressing his breathing problems. She gave him a stronger inhaler, and scheduled a stress test for him. Friday it was back to the chiropractor. EJ will return to the chiropractor on Monday. The chiropractor said it will take several visits to get his back in shape, and then EJ will have to return only occasionally for maintenance.

The Next Thing

Early yesterday afternoon, after spending the night at home, we went to the campground to retrieve our RV. EJ was in great pain from his back, but I couldn’t drive both the RV and the car. We each have certain jobs when we arrive and depart in the campground. EJ’s jobs include placing the stabilizers, putting up the awning, and connecting the electricity, water, and cable–and undoing it. When we depart from a campground, I get everything else put away.

Wimps!

It was our first full day of camping at the campground near our home. It is VERY HOT and HUMID today. A local friend posted on Facebook that she had heard that the temperature in our area is about 93 but it feels like it’s 106 degrees. We have air conditioning in the RV, but we kept getting brownouts. Either the electrical demand is too much for the campground to handle in this heat, or our air conditioner is failing. Since the brownout occurred when just the fan was on, I think the problem is not with our air conditioner. I hope it isn’t.

Step One: Laptop

Our desktop computer has been giving us the Blue Screen of Death with increasing frequency–sometimes two   or three times a day.It also kept freezing temporily so we’d have to wait a few seconds or minutes for it to unfreeze–over and over gain. Very frustrating. So this morning we drove to Best Buy and bought a laptop computer. We’ve been talking about buying one for quite some time. We especially wanted to get one to use while we are RVing.

Even If We Don’t Go…

It’s really exciting–but also scarey–thinking about living full-time in an RV. Can we really do this? Do we really want to? I don’t know.

I emailed a friend and told her what we are thinking about full-time RVing. Then I spent the rest of the day thinking, “Oh, she’s going to think we are NUTS!” But she surprised me with her support. She said that she was going to suggest we do this very thing. She said:

Dreams

We have begun to consider “what if’s.” “What If’s” open up possibilities and dreams. Our biggest “what if” sounds absolutely insane: What if we sold our house and traveled in the RV full time–even for the rest of our lives or until we find a place that we’d like to settle in? I know, sounds crazy and foolish. But a lot of Baby Boomers are doing this very thing–selling their homes and spending the rest of their lives traveling. We met an 85-year-old man at the last campground we were at who, for the last 18 years, has spent 7 months living in the campground in Michigan and the remainder of the year at his “home” in Alabama. When EJ and I think about what we love, we list: We love traveling together. We love beautiful places. I saw EJ start to regain energy and joy at the campgrounds. He could breathe better. His stress level when down. What if?

Where Am I Going?

EJ’s job is slowly (or not so slowly) killing his spirit and body. We aren’t particularly happy living where we are. So we have decided that we need to make changes in our lives. The question now is: Where are we going?
