On the Elliptical…

I need to exercise.

I need to exercise because my jeans are getting tight (which, as every woman knows, is the best indicator that a person need more exercise) and because my last bone density tests indicated that I am at a higher risk for osteoporosis and my doctor said I need exercise to reduce the risk.

I exercised very hard last year, but then I lost focus and stopped. It’s been difficult for me to restart. I keep saying “tomorrow, tomorrow” because today I am too busy or too tired…I thought maybe I’d be more motivated to exercise if I kept a log on this blog to record how many calories I have burned each day. My minimum goal is 200 calories a day but I hope to do more. If I falter, feel free to encourage me, cheer me on, bark at me like a drill instructor, or kick me in the butt!

I will put my most recent stats at the top.

I burned 150 calories this morning…

I burned 250 calories this morning.

Wednesday, February 8, 2012

Ugh, I have seriously fallen of the “wagon.” Today I got back on and burned 300 calories.

Friday, January 20, 2012: I burned 200 calories today.

Thursday, January 19, 2012: I burned 200 calories this morning while JJ read history, and another 100 later, for a total of 300. I wanted to get on again and burn another 100, but it didn’t happen.

Wednesday, January 18, 2012: I burned 150 calories this morning and 50 calories tonight for a total of 200. I meant to do more, but the day got busy…

Tuesday, January 17, 2012: I burned 100 calories this morning, and 125 this evening while watching NCIS.

Monday, January 16, 2012: After missing a couple days, I renewed my efforts and burned 275 calories today.

Thursday, January 12, 2012: Burned 215 calories today.

Wednesday, January 11, 2012:  I did not get on the elliptical today. I meant to, but ended up talking to my friend instead.

Tuesday, January 10, 2012: 200 calories, and then another 25, for a total of 225.

Monday, January 9, 2012: I burned 400 calories this afternoon. Whoo Hoo! I did it while watching the latest episode of Once Upon A Time on Hulu. Watching a series that I enjoy took my mind off the effort of the elliptical.

Sunday, January 8, 2012: I burned 75 calories this morning and 175 calories this afternoon for a total of 250.

Saturday, January 7, 2012: It was very difficult getting on the elliptical today. I didn’t get on it this morning and I didn’t want to get on it at all, but posting my burned calories here motivates me. I don’t want to tell you that I didn’t do it. So late this afternoon I forced myself to get on the elliptical and I burned 200 calories all at once! Pant, pant, sweat, sweat!

Friday, January 6, 2012: I was really dragging today, but I am determined to burn no less than 200 calories a day. I managed to burn 100 this morning, and then burned the remainder here and there throughout the day. I burned either 200 or 225. I lost count.

Thursday, January 5, 2012: Today I burned 200 calories–100 in the morning and 100 in the afternoon. I wanted to do more, but I practice Hebrew with my friend, studied on the Internet, and wrote a long post on my blog. I need more hours in the day…

Wednesday, January 4, 2012: Oops! I almost forgot to record the day’s calorie burn. I slept late this morning because I was cuddly warm under a blanket of cats. However, despite the time crunch I got on the elliptical and burned 100 calories. I burned another 100 in the evening. I wanted to keep pushing and top yesterday’s burn, but at least I did my minimum goal.

Tuesday, January 3, 2012: Huff, huff. I got up this morning and burned 200 calories on the elliptical. I’m going to try to do more through the day….I burned 110 more calories this evening, for a total of 310.

Monday, January 2, 2012: I burned 300 calories today! Whoo hoo! Last year when I was on the elliptical every day, I was able to burned several hundred calories at one time, but I’m out of shape so I’ll have to work up to more. This morning I burned 150, then I kept doing 50 at a time throughout the day until I reached 300.

  2. Great job! If I had an elliptical I would join you…i walk outside…I say, but not really; I just think I do.

Thank you for stopping by my blog.

It would be fun to exercise “together” if you had an elliptical! I much prefer walking outside, and I walk outside with my dog every day, but I go at his pace, which is more of a meander than exercise. So I try also to get on the elliptical…
